What is VoluMedic? How Does it Thicken the Hair?
The creators of VoluMedic Hair Thickening System have targeted hair loss in men and women, regardless of hair type. With a focus on botanical ingredients, users get a guaranteed “drug and hormone-free regimen.” The company boasts of its investments in botanical sciences and rightly so, they use 17 plant-based ingredients in their products. That is a robust line-up of natural ingredients. Unlike the shelves of shampoos at your local drugstore, this shampoo, conditioner, and scalp stimulator are all sulfate and paraben-free. At the very least, you can rest assured this system will not do any chemical damage to your hair or scalp.
They offer two different 10.1 oz shampoos (original and moisturizing), a 10.1 oz thickening conditioner, and a 3.3 oz water based scalp stimulator that promotes growth and volumizes at the root. The shampoo, conditioner, and stimulator is now available in the 30-day starter kit (5.5 oz, 5.5, oz and 1.7 oz) for anyone looking to get their toes wet (or hair, in this case) or if you’re needing a smaller set to take on the go. At the $23 price point, it is a fair way to give the system a trial and examine your personal results. Keep in mind that the full-size bottles would run you about $40.00 and last about 60 days (twice as long).

My VoluMedic Experience: 30 Days Using the Starter Kit
In order to give you a solid glimpse into my experience with VoluMedic, I will tell you a bit about my hair type, typical regimen, and my personal struggles with thickness and volume.
I am female, and since my teens have had rather thin hair made up of fine strands. At one point in my life, I was on medication that thinned out my hair at the scalp significantly, so finding the right thickening agents has always been a part of my shopping and personal care routines. I have quite a bit of natural curl to my hair, but because of how lightweight it is, overusing products (or using the wrong ones) has a tendency to weigh it down and pull out the curl. Thankfully, this is not at all the experience I had with VoluMedic.
1. The Shampoo
The VoluMedic Shampoo is a lot lower lather shampoo than many that I have come across. It smells minty with a green tint (no artificial dyes, though!), due to the Mentha Arvenis, or peppermint leaf oil. The directions instruct the user to rinse with cool water, so make sure you turn down the heat at this point in your routine.
The experts at VoluMedic recommend alternating it with their moisturizing shampoo if you deal with dry hair or environments that suck the moisture out of your hair. Dry, damaged hair is the biggest threat to your hair’s thickness and body. I only wash my hair every 3-4 days and supplement with dry shampoo, so dry hair is no longer an issue for me. If it is for you I would recommend purchasing both.
2. The Conditioner
Due to its refreshing nature, the conditioner is my favorite part of this three-step system. Once again, the peppermint leaf oil stands out in the scent. One note I would give is to make sure to avoid the eyes, it doesn’t burn, but it gives the scalp a cooling sensation that does not feel great if it gets near your eyes. I typically avoid working too much conditioner into my scalp, because typically it pulls the curl out of my hair. However, I will say that this has the opposite effect. It is a very lightweight conditioner, and I did not find myself having to rinse multiple times to get it out of my hair.
3. The Scalp Stimulator
This heat-safe product is water-based and contains multiple floral extracts to refresh your scalp before styling. As with the theme of keeping my curls in-tact, I rarely use heat (curling irons, blow dryers, straighteners), but it is good to know that it is made to coincide with those routines. It does not leave a residue behind and feels refreshing. The instructions depict that “slight tingling or flushing is normal and should subside within 30 minutes.” But this is not something I experienced, but I am sure this varies based on skin type.
My 30 Day Results with VoluMedic
I was extremely pleased with the results of VoluMedic. Long ago I gave up on the idea that I would find a product that would totally change my life and realized that finding the right products that emphasize the good features, and enhance what is there was more important than cookie-cutter treatments full of drugs and hormones.
My curls have been healthier than they have been in a long time, and even the days that I did style my hair, I found that it did not fall flat. I have full-size versions of all of these products now and plan on continuing to use these as part of my daily routines. With that, I give it a strong recommendation to anyone looking to pump up your hair health, volume, and thickness.
